This is Mac, E-Commerce Manager for Strathfield Brookvale
E-commerce is an industry that requires flexibility as you switch between tasks that require technical expertise and people skills. As E-Commerce Manager for Strathfield Brookvale, Mac has shown his flexibility—and continues to be a valuable contributor to SD’s and his client’s success.
If there’s someone who embodies flexibility and the power of being open to change, that person would be Mark Anthony Sarino. Joining us back in January 2019, he started out as a content writer before being introduced to the world of E-Commerce. Mac credits Staff Domain for opening doors to a career that he never thought he could take on—but he now thrives in as he continues to learn and push his boundaries.
What should we call you?
Mac

Name three things you can’t work without.
Coffee, music, and a daily dose of sports news
What course did you take in school and when/where did you graduate?
AB Mass Communication Major in Journalism, April 2012, Centro Escolar University-Malolos
Has being an E-Commerce Manager always been what you wanted to do?
I’ve always been a writer since my high school days. Right after graduation, I joined Manila Bulletin where I worked as a newsroom researcher and writer for over three years. Wanting a career change, I then ventured into Marketing Communications in 2016 and I haven’t looked back since then; worked for my previous BPO employer for a little over two years before joining Staff Domain (SD). SD landed me a content writer job in January 2019 for a big automotive company in Australia and was later transferred to an E-Commerce Manager assignment later in that same year to work for another Australia-based client. Have I ever seen myself taking on E-Commerce stuff for a living? Not until SD paved the way for me to realize my potential in this industry.
Could you briefly describe to us your typical work day?
A typical workday for me involves non-stop toggling between E-Commerce platforms and a cup of coffee. I always make sure that all of my client’s E-Commerce management needs are fulfilled across the board.
What do you enjoy most about being an E-Commerce Manager?
I’d say the variety of the tasks you get to work on with every single day. One day you’re being tasked to update product listings; the next day you’re conversing with customers about the delivery of their orders, and so on and so forth. Needless to say, it’s a type of job that requires immense flexibility and that’s what I love most about it.
And what about it do you feel you’d do better without?
Viewed from an efficiency standpoint, I believe slashing the intermittence of Internet connection from time to time will help me do better at what I do. But as we know, the connection here in PH isn’t that good. Being tasked to look after various online selling platforms, I guess we’ll all have to be resourceful enough when Internet outages strike.
What is the one piece of advice that you think every aspiring E-Commerce Manager should know?
Be flexible. Why? Because if you want to thrive in this industry, you have to do whatever it takes to stay relevant. Be open to possibilities and remain teachable and see how far you’ll go.
When did you join Staff Domain?
I joined SD on January 7, 2019.
What are your favorite experiences with the company so far?
There are plenty, but perhaps the most favorite experience I’ve had with the company so far was the Christmas Party we had last year at Marco Polo. Everybody got to enjoy that day and we got to mingle with our top company executives. Our band won the SD Got Talent Contest that day.
What are the things you look forward to working in SD?
I look forward to seeing SD making more strides to improve its benefits package. This will definitely ramp up our recruitment efforts.
If you were stranded on an island, who among your teammates would you want with you? Why?
Unfortunately, I’m the only one on my team. So, I guess I’ll have to try to channel the inner Tom Hanks in me.
Tell us a famous quote that you try to live by.
“Improvement is better than delayed perfection.” – Mark Twain
I chose to live by this quote because I don’t believe in perfection. There’s no such thing. What we can only go after is improvement, which ensues impeccability.
Thanks, Mac!
