Staff Domain held a Lunch and Learn session oneffective communication facilitated by communication expert and coach, Marie El Daghl from Training George.
Lunch and learn sessions are just one of the many streams in the Staff Domain training and development program. Staff Domain training is in addition to, and works in tandem with, the client’s own workplace specific training.
Effective communication is one of our core training streams, given it is the basis of every interaction, professional and personal. Done well, it means happy relationships, better results, quicker completion of tasks. Done badly, it can break relationships, delay projects, lead to loss of clients and damaged reputations.
Staff Domain flew Marie in from Sydney, to run the session and help build out a broader effective communication training program for all staff. She was chosen for her extensive experience working with businesses large and small, and her engaging training style.
During the session, Marie shared great insights into what clients need and expect. She offered great perspectives on overcoming the challenges of working across borders and tips to building positive and transparent working relationships.
There were lengthy discussions about the need to walk away from any communication event – be it a meeting or brief – with a crystal clear understanding of what is required. The onus being on the individual to ensure they use emphatic listening and questions, to ensure they’ve understood the next steps correctly.
Attendees were paired up and engaged in an exercise that highlighted just how important questions are in the communication process, and what happens when they’re not asked.
At the session’s end, participants understood just how fundamental open, clear, and timely communication is to the offshoring team experience. The session was enjoyed by all those involved, and of course, the pizza was the perfect topping!
