Never in the history of offshoring for SMEs has there been any research like this conducted.

Staff Domain cares about the plight of small and medium businesses. We have proudly commissioned this ground-breaking new research to address what has been missing for a very long time – a research backed blueprint on how clients can achieve offshoring success. The research is based on the experience of over 1200 small and medium accounting firms across Australia.

Staff Domain is proud to partner with Bond Business School (Bond University) on this important project. Our role is simply a funding one, and the full research and report is the sole and independent work of two stand out Professors in Accounting and Finance. Between them, they have had research published in the Journal of Business Ethics, the Family Business Review, the Australian Accounting Review and many, many more.

About the research project

Dr.  Keith Duncan and Dr. Tim Hasso are two of Australia’s leading academics in the finance and accounting space. They are the sole authors and researchers of this Staff Domain funded study:

Offshoring Accounting Services in Australia: State of Play and Critical Success Factors.

The research is based on interviews and surveys conducted with over 800 small and medium accounting firms across the country.

It will provide:

  • Insight into how prevalent the practise of offshoring accounting services is
  • The pros and cons of offshoring according to those using it
  • An understanding of the types of accounting functions or tasks offshored, and why
  • A reflection of how satisfactory their experiences have been
  • The ingredients to a successful offshoring experience as they see it
  • A blueprint for success for those that are new or entering offshoring for accounting services.

Dr. Tim and Dr. Keith are the co-authors of one of the most important and rare pieces of offshoring research conducted in Australia, Offshoring of Audit Work in AustraliaThey are practising professors and teach accounting and finance to the accounting leaders of the future.
