Offshoring helped the Carrera Group find the accounting personnel they needed, and the company shares that doing this was not as daunting a task as it seemed
Established in 1995, the Carrera Group is a widely recognized kitchen manufacturing company located in Smithfield in Sydney, Australia. It presently employs approximately 35 people as it continues to manufacture the highest quality kitchens and joinery, wardrobes, and joinery for residential properties.
Growing a business means increases in expenses as well as personnel requirements, and the Carrera Group eventually turned to offshoring for both. Carrera Group Founder Ronnie Abdishou shares a little bit of how the journey has been so far, and how his business began offshoring in the Philippines through Staff Domain.
What led you to offshoring?
Two reasons. One was costs. Second was difficulty in finding employees in Australia. Those are the two reasons.
How many offshore staff do you have and what are their roles?
Well, there’s three offshore and the rest of them are in Sydney.
What made you choose Staff Domain?
I previously had another offshore company that I was using. Their service let them down. So, ultimately, I changed to Staff Domain and I’m very happy with the service right now.
How do you manage the team remotely?
One of the members (of my offshore team) is the Team Supervisor/Leader. He coordinates the other two and I’m basically interacting and discussing everything with the Team Leader, and he looks after the team.
What have been some of the challenges we’ve helped you overcome?
To be honest, because I started with another company, there were no real challenges, because I basically migrated my staff from a different company to your company. It was quite simple to me.
Given that, my team is much happier and more settled with Staff Domain. The team is looked after much better now than they were in the previous outsourcing company. Justin (Pavsic) is very hands-on and communicates very regularly with me and looks after my needs, my team and makes me feel very comfortable.
What difference has the team made to your business?
I’ll go back to when I first started to go offshore before I joined Staff Domain. The unknown, the uncertainty: “Can you do it?” “How will you do it?” “How will it work?” “Will it work?”—these are all the questions that come up.
Once I took the step, we set up, as we have, it seems like a very simple, seamless integration. My staff that operates from Staff Domain offices like they are in my Sydney office.
